Marvel Super Heroes Commander Decks: Full Breakdown One Month Out

The Marvel Super Heroes Commander decks drop June 26, 2026, and as of right now, we are exactly one month out from a release that is already shaping up to be one of the most chaotic preorder situations in Magic history. Four precons. Captain America, Doctor Doom, the Fantastic Four, and Black Panther are leading the charge. A Collector's Edition treatment that has been listed on TCGPlayer between $155 and $240 per deck for the better part of two months. And a spoiler season that does not officially close until June 12, which means we are still getting card reveals that could meaningfully shift which deck is actually the best to preorder.

If you are trying to figure out which deck to grab before stock thins out, or whether to wait and pick up singles on the secondary market, here is the honest breakdown of all four Marvel Super Heroes Commander decks, what they actually do, and which one is the smart preorder one month out from release.

What Are the Marvel Super Heroes Commander Decks

The Marvel Super Heroes Commander decks are four 100-card precon Commander decks releasing alongside the Marvel Super Heroes set on June 26, 2026. Each deck contains 30 brand new cards and 70 reprints, all of which use Marvel-themed artwork and card frames. Standard MSRP is $69.99 per deck, and a parallel Collector's Edition line at $149.99 MSRP features every card in Surge Foil treatment.

The four decks are Avengers Assemble, Wakanda Forever, The Fantastic Four, and Doom Prevails. Three hero-themed, one villain-themed, which is the same split Magic has used for most of its Universes Beyond Commander launches. Each deck comes with 10 double-sided token cards, a deck box, a strategy guide, a reference card, and one foil borderless Legendary Creature card, with the exception of The Fantastic Four deck, which contains four foil borderless Legendary Creatures, one for each member of the team.

The current secondary market pricing on the Collector's Edition versions is the part that should make players pause. Doom Prevails is the most expensive at the top of the range, Wakanda Forever the cheapest, and Fantastic Four and Avengers Assemble fall somewhere in between. None of these prices are coming down before launch. They are printed in limited quantities, and the people who already preordered at MSRP are sitting on a very comfortable margin.

Avengers Assemble: The Combat-Focused Hero Deck

Avengers Assemble is the 3-color, Jeskai-themed deck built around Earth's Mightiest Heroes. The face commander is Captain America, Team Leader, a three-mana 3/3 that rewards you for playing creatures with the Hero subtype by giving them vigilance and haste and distributing a couple of tokens. Nick Fury is also confirmed as an alternate commander.

Captain America, Team Leader — Mythic Legendary Creature, Human Soldier Hero, cost RWU, 3/3, card #M0005. A heroic figure in a blue cowl and helmet with a white A insignia charges forward thrusting a red-gloved fist, holding a red, white, and blue circular shield in the foreground. Behind him a massive green hulking figure looms on the left, a small winged insect-sized hero flies on the lower left, and an armored red and gold suited figure stands on the right, all set against a vivid blue and purple sky. Flavor text: 'Avengers assemble!' Ability: Whenever another Hero you control enters, it gains vigilance and haste until end of turn, put a +1/+1 counter on that Hero and a +1/+1 counter on Captain America. Sorry for the potato quality picture

The strategy is straightforward and exactly what you would expect from a Captain America deck. Build a wide army of heroes, maybe bounce them in and out to activate triggers, stack counters, take advantage of the new power-up mechanic, and overwhelm opponents with combat damage. This seems to be the aggressive option in the lineup and the easiest deck to pilot for newer Commander players, which makes it a strong pick if you are buying this for someone who is learning the format.

The downside is that Avengers Assemble could mechanically be the least exciting of the four. Captain America as a commander is fine but bland; the deck does not introduce any synergies that competitive Commander has not seen before, and the value here is going to come from the new Hero subtype cards rather than the engine itself.

Doom Prevails: The Villain Deck With the Highest Skill Ceiling

Doom Prevails is the villain deck, built in Grixis colors and led by Doctor Doom himself. This is the most expensive precon on the secondary market right now, and after looking at the previews, that pricing makes sense. The deck pulls together Doctor Doom and other headline villains, with a strategy built around the Connive mechanic, life drain effects, and the kind of control gameplay that Grixis players have always loved.

Doctor Doom, King of Latveria — Mythic Legendary Creature, Human Noble Villain, cost 1UB, 3/3, card #M0006. An imposing armored figure in a dark green hooded cloak and grey metal face mask sits upon a throne, one clawed gauntleted hand raised holding a crackling glowing green energy orb, the other resting on the throne arm amid swirling purple and gold magical energy in the shadowy background. Flavor text: 'Kneel before Doom.' Abilities: Whenever you discard one or more land cards, each opponent loses 2 life; At the beginning of combat on your turn, target Villain you control gains menace until end of turn and it connives — draw a card, then discard a card, if you discarded a nonland card put a +1/+1 counter on that creature. MSC set, extended art gold multicolor border, art by Nathaniel Himawan, Marvel. 2026 Wizards of the Coast.

Connive in this deck means drawing cards, discarding strategically, and using that discard pile as fuel for life drain and value engines. Doctor Doom as commander rewards you for engaging with the Connive process, which means every card you cycle should be doing double duty. Discarding lands gets you life and I would bet there is probably a Crucible of Worlds somewhere in there. This is the highest skill ceiling deck in the lineup and the most rewarding for experienced players. If you have ever wanted to be the villain at a Commander table without apologizing for it, this is the deck.

The expected secondary market value on the Collector's Edition of Doom Prevails is the highest of the four, with current listings pushing past $200 already. Whether that holds post-launch depends entirely on the rest of the spoilers, but the villains' lineup is the most display-worthy collection in the entire Marvel Super Heroes product range.

Wakanda Forever: The Artifact-Heavy Hero Deck

Wakanda Forever is the Selesnya-colored (green-white) deck built around the heroes of Wakanda, with T'Challa, the Black Panther as the face commander. T'Challa is a three-mana Human Noble Hero who creates a Vibranium token whenever tapped. Vibranium tokens are indestructible artifacts that produce one colorless mana that can only be used on artifact spells, which is one of the more flavorful mechanics in the entire set. On top of that, whenever you cast an artifact spell with mana value four or greater, T'Challa gains two +1/+1 counters.

T'Challa, the Black Panther — Mythic Legendary Creature, Human Noble Hero, cost 1GW, 2/2, card #M0007. A powerful figure in a sleek black textured suit with purple and gold geometric panther claw markings lunges forward with one arm outstretched toward the viewer, surrounded by a chaotic tangle of red and yellow branches or energy lines. Two smaller figures are visible in the background, one on horseback to the left and one in red standing to the right, amid a dramatic fiery orange and green environment. Abilities: Whenever T'Challa enters or attacks, create a tapped Vibranium token — an indestructible artifact that taps to add one colorless mana that can't be spent to cast a nonartifact spell; Whenever you cast an artifact spell with mana value 4 or greater, put two +1/+1 counters on T'Challa. MSC set, extended art gold multicolor border, art by Eli Minaya, Marvel. 2026 Wizards of the Coast.

The strategy is artifact ramp. Drop T'Challa, generate Vibranium tokens, and use that infrastructure to cast expensive artifact game-changers two or three turns earlier than your opponents can react to them. This is the most mechanically interesting of the three hero decks, and the Vibranium token engine is the kind of design that should hold up well over time in Commander. I'm interested to see if it leans into equipment to take over aggressively or leads through utility.

Wakanda Forever is currently the cheapest Collector's Edition on TCGPlayer, which is interesting because mechanically it is one of the stronger decks. If you are buying for value and you do not have a strong preference between hero teams, this is the smart pick.

The Fantastic Four: The Four-Color Spell Deck

The Fantastic Four is the Yore-Tiller (white-blue-red-green, sans black) precon, themed around non-creature spells and protection effects. The cover features all four members of the Fantastic Four (Mister Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch, and the Thing), all of whom can act as the deck's commander. This is the unique selling point of this precon. Four commanders. The Collector's Edition contains four foil borderless Legendary Creatures instead of just one.

Each Fantastic Four card has a supplementary ability that can be activated for one white, one blue, one red, and one green mana, but the activated abilities are typical of the base color of each card. The Human Torch deals combat damage to every opponent. The Thing doubles all counters on all permanents. Reed Richards focuses on card draw and spell synergies. The Invisible Woman builds walls for protection before launching counterattacks.

The strategy is non-creature spell value with a protection engine. This is the deck for control and combo players who want to play Magic and pretend the table is not there.

Which Marvel Super Heroes Commander Decks Should You Preorder

The honest answer depends on what you actually want out of the deck, because all we have to go on right now are the commander's main effects. For players who want the highest skill ceiling and the most replay value, Doom Prevails is the pick. For players who want the most mechanically interesting hero deck, Wakanda Forever is the smartest buy. For players who want maximum flexibility and four different builds out of one box, The Fantastic Four is the obvious choice. For newer Commander players or anyone teaching the format, Avengers Assemble is the most approachable.

For collectors who want the best secondary market position one year from now, Doom Prevails has the strongest case based on current pricing trajectory, but Wakanda Forever offers the best value at MSRP.

Whatever you pick, preorder before June 19. Prerelease is the same day as the Standard set preview, June 19, 2026, and prices on these decks will continue to climb until the moment they hit shelves.
