Phantasmal Flames: Pokemon TCG closes out 2025 with a Fiery Finale

The Pokemon TCG is set to close out 2025 with a bang (or inferno if you're a Charizard). For collectors who love dramatic card art and powerful evolutions, Phantasmal Flames might be the set you’ve been waiting for.

Dropping November 14, 2025, Phantasmal Flames closes out the year with a blaze of Mega Evolution glory and some of the most visually stunning cards we’ve seen in the Scarlet & Violet era.

What Makes Phantasmal Flames Special?

This set continues to build around the return of Mega Evolution and Pokemon ex, with Mega Charizard X ex leading the charge. The artwork is intense, think blue fire clashing with shadowy energy, and the card pool is tight, hopefully making it easier to chase what you love. There is even a hyper-rare gold version of the Mega Charizard X that I'm certain I will never get my hands on.

You’ll find over 120 cards in the set, including new Mega Heracross ex and Mega Lopunny ex, plus a handful of Trainer cards and illustration rares that are already turning heads online. The set draws from Japan’s Inferno X, but has been scaled down for English release with a collector-first mindset.

Product Availability and Preorders

Phantasmal Flames will be available in all the usual formats, but collectors are especially eyeing the Mega Charizard X Premium Collection Boxes. These are already seeing preorder pressure at major retailers like Amazon and Walmart, so if you want one, you're probably already too late.

Elite Trainer Boxes and Booster Boxes are also on the way, along with Mini Tins and Blisters that make great stocking stuffers or casual pickups. The set is timed to complement Pokemon Legends: Z-A on Switch, so expect crossover hype to drive demand even higher, leading to even tougher product shortages than normal, given the current Pokemon TCG climate.

Why Collectors Are Buzzing

This isn’t just another expansion; it’s a thematic powerhouse. The set’s compact size at around 120 cards should mean better pull rates for key rares, and the illustration rares are some of the most detailed and dramatic we’ve seen all year. For those who love Mega Evolution, this is a return to form with a flair we haven't seen yet.

So for those that are chasing foil Gengars, building a Mega-themed binder, or just want a set that feels cohesive and collectible, Phantasmal Flames looks like it will be the one to deliver. It’s got nostalgia, power, and polish all wrapped up in time for the holidays.

Now, can I just find some cards?

As a collector, I’m always looking for sets that balance gameplay relevance with visual impact, and Phantasmal Flames checks every box. It’s bold, it’s beautiful, and it’s built for fans who appreciate the art and energy of the Pokémon TCG.

November can’t come soon enough, but will I be able to find the product on store shelves? Time will tell. But my hunch is I will have to keep close tabs on restock updates to buy some stocking stuffers for the kids, and a few for me, too.
