The Best Vehicles in Magic the Gathering | Our Top 5

Updated: Jan 24

With the impending release of Aetherdrift, Vehicles and mounts are going to get a ton of support very quickly. In preparation for the release, we have put together what we believe are the best vehicles in MtG right now (but probably going to change in February).

5. Smuggler's Copter

5. Smuggler's Copter

  • Mana Cost: 2

  • Key Features:

    • Crew 1

    • Flying.

    • Card Draw

  • Why is It on the List?: Smuggler’s Copter is efficient, easy to crew, and provides consistent card filtering. It was so impactful in Standard that it was banned due to its dominance in various archetypes. And with the recent reveal of Kolodin, Triumph Caster it should see consistent play in the next wave of commander.

4. Esika’s Chariot

4. Esika’s Chariot

  • Mana Cost: 2GG

  • Key Features:

    • Crew 4

    • Token Creation

    • Token Copy

  • Why is It on the List?: Esika’s Chariot creates value the moment it hits the battlefield and continues to generate tokens as it attacks. Its synergy with token strategies and low mana cost makes it a standout in formats like Standard and Commander. I've used it with commanders like Rubinia Soulsinger and Rin & Seri to great effect.

3. Weatherlight

3. Weatherlight

  • Mana Cost: 4

  • Key Features:

    • Crew 3

    • Flying.

    • Tutor

  • Why is It on the List?: Weatherlight provides card advantage by tutoring historic cards, making it a great option for Commander and getting another boost with the Artifact focus in Aetherdrift.

    2. Skysovereign, Consul Flagship

2. Skysovereign, Consul Flagship

  • Mana Cost: 5

  • Key Features:

    • Crew 3

    • Flying.

    • Drop Damage

  • Why is It on the List?: Versatile removal paired with a strong attack. It's highly effective in both aggressive and midrange strategies for controlling the board while applying pressure. With the appropriate bounce outlet like Conjurer's Closet, it can be extremely powerful.

    1. Parhelion II

1. Parhelion II

  • Mana Cost: 6WW

  • Key Features:

    • Crew 4

    • Flying, First Strike, Vigilance.

    • Token Creation

  • Why is It on the List?: Parhelion II brings immense value when attacking, generating tokens (with flying and vigilance) that can overwhelm opponents quickly. It’s a powerhouse in decks that cheat it into play rather than paying its full cost. But even at its full cost, it is extremely effective.

So what do you think of the list? Did we forget anyone? Drop your favorite vehicles below and how you use them!
