Doom Prevails Precon Decklist: Best Cards and Easy Upgrades

The Doom Prevails precon decklist is officially public. Wizards of the Coast revealed the full 100-card Marvel Super Heroes Grixis villains deck on June 10, 2026, as the third of four precon decklist drops happening between June 8 and June 11. The full deck is led by Doctor Doom, King of Latveria, runs the connive mechanic as its primary engine, and packs an iconic villains lineup including Loki, Kang, Ultron, Killmonger, and the entire HYDRA leadership council.

After spending the morning going through the decklist line by line, here is what is actually inside the box, which cards are pulling their weight, which seats are vulnerable, and the easiest upgrades to push the deck past stock precon power level.

Doom Prevails Commander Deck Theme

Doom Prevails is a Grixis (blue, black, red) Commander preconstructed deck themed around three intertwined gameplay axes: the connive mechanic, the Villain creature type, and life drain effects. The face commander, Doctor Doom, King of Latveria, ties all three together. Doctor Doom is a four-mana 3/3 with two key abilities. First, each opponent loses 2 life whenever you discard one or more land cards. Second, at the beginning of combat on your turn, one of your Villains gains menace and connives, meaning that creature draws a card, discards a card, and grows by a +1/+1 counter if the discarded card is a nonland.

The alternate commander option is Loki, the Deceiver, a four-mana 4/4 that creates a temporary token copy of one of your Villains when it attacks. The copy goes away on your end step, which is more limited than the face commander but still useful for triggering enter-the-battlefield abilities or simply doubling combat damage on a key turn.

In practice, the deck rewards setup. You want to play Villains, manipulate your hand through connive, dump lands strategically for Doctor Doom triggers, and finish opponents through accumulated life loss while your creatures grow larger and larger via counters. It is more of a long-game schemer than a fast aggressive deck, which fits the flavor perfectly.

Full Doom Prevails Precon Decklist

Here is the complete 100-card decklist as confirmed on June 10:

Doctor Doom sits on a dark throne, raising a glowing orb; card text says Doctor Doom, King of Latveria, 3/3.

Commander (1):  Doctor Doom, King of Latveria

Creatures (32):  Abomination, World Ravager · Baron Strucker, HYDRA Overlord · Batroc the Leaper · Chameleon, Master of Disguise · Containment Construct · Helmut Zemo, Mastermind · Iron Monger, Sadistic Tycoon · Kang Prime · Kang, Temporal Tyrant · Killmonger, Ruthless Usurper · Klaw, Master of Sound · Lady Loki, Agent of Chaos · Living Laser · Loki, the Deceiver · Madame Hydra · Molecule Man · Moonstone, Harsh Mistress · Prowler, Clawed Thief · Puppet Master, String Puller · Red Ghost, Intangible Genius · Spark Double · Stilt-Man, Towering Terror · Superior Foes of Spider-Man · The Frightful Four · The Squadron Sinister · Titan of Littjara · Titania, Proud Pummeler · Tombstone, Career Criminal · Tri-Sentinel, Act of Vengeance · Typhoid Mary, Fractured · Ultron, Unlimited

Instants (5):  Bedevil · Chaos Warp · Lethal Scheme · Terminate · Withering Torment

Sorceries (8): Blasphemous Act · Endless Ranks of HYDRA · Extract Power · Kindred Dominance · Night's Whisper · Syphon Mind · Toxic Deluge · Vandalblast

Enchantments (6): Age of Ultron · Archnemesis · Black Market Connections · Glorious Purpose · Kang Dynasty · Propaganda

Artifacts (11): Arcane Signet · Currency Converter · Damocles Base, Sword of Kang · Doom's Time Platform · Loki's Scepter · Patchwork Banner · Progenitor's Icon · Skullclamp · Sol Ring · Swiftfoot Boots · Talisman of Dominance · Talisman of Indulgence

Lands (37): Canyon Slough · Choked Estuary · Coastal Peak · Command Tower · Crumbling Necropolis · Dragonskull Summit · Drowned Catacomb · Exotic Orchard · Fetid Pools · Foreboding Ruins · Frostboil Snarl · Luxury Suite · Path of Ancestry · Scavenger Grounds · Scorched Geyser · Secluded Courtyard · Smoldering Marsh · Sulfur Falls · Sunken Hollow · Terramorphic Expanse · Unclaimed Territory · Villainous Hideout · Island ×4 · Mountain ×5 · Swamp ×6

A few quick observations about the deck construction. The mana base is dense with 37 lands plus three two-mana ramp pieces (Arcane Signet, Talisman of Dominance, Talisman of Indulgence) and Sol Ring, which gives the deck a stable foundation but does signal it may wants to play long games. The artifact suite is light at only 11 pieces, which is intentional since this is not the Wakanda Forever artifact-ramp deck. The removal package is balanced with five instants and includes both targeted removal (Terminate, Bedevil) and Chaos Warp as a flexible answer.

The Best Cards in the Doom Prevails Precon

A handful of cards in this precon are doing the heaviest lifting and are worth keeping in any upgrade build.

Doctor Doom on a Magic: The Gathering card, seated in a dark throne and conjuring a blue energy orb; text reads Doctor Doom, King of Latveria.

Doctor Doom, King of Latveria is obviously the engine. The deck only works because the commander combines hand sculpting, creature growth, and life drain into one card. Every upgrade decision should start by asking whether the new card enables Doctor Doom's two abilities.

Magic: The Gathering card of Ultron, Unlimited, a black robot villain lunging in a fiery battle scene; Flying, 2/2.

Ultron Unlimited turns your Connive strategy into an army of decent chump blockers and possible attackers. Whenever you connive, pay 1 and create a 2/2 colorless robot villain artifact creature. Since you will be conniving a lot, you should be able to fend of quite a few rounds of combat while your engine builds.

Molecule Man Magic card shows a green-suited villain crackling with purple energy; text reads Legendary Creature—Human Villain, 5/5.

Molecule Man is almost certainly going to be banned in the future. He gives all non land cards in your hand Miracle 0, meaning you can cast them for free if they are the first card you drew this turn. at a cost of 6 colorless, it's a little hefty, but his effect is pretty broken.

Magic: The Gathering card Kindred Dominance showing three horned, winged demons hovering over a dark battlefield, with sorcery text below.

Kindred Dominance is the deck's win condition disguised as a creature type sweeper. Naming Villain wipes opponents' boards while leaving your own intact, which is the kind of one-sided board wipe that closes games.

Magic card Propaganda showing blue-tinted faces and swirling marks, with enchantment text about creatures needing 2 mana to attack you

Propaganda is the deck's tempo protection piece, taxing attackers and giving you time to set up the long-game plan.

Weak Seats in the Doom Prevails Precon

A few cards in the deck are clearly there for flavor rather than function and can be safely upgraded. Without naming specific cards as outright bad, the categories worth putting under a microscope are the situational creature slot fillers in the four-and-five mana range that do nothing for the connive or life drain themes. Many of the Villain creatures like Superior Foes of Spider-man, Tri-Sentinel, Act of Vengeance, and Titania, Proud Pummeler are more flavor than substance, meant to make the precon feel like a Marvel villain catalog, which is great for new players but known upgrade targets for Commander brewers.

Also keep an eye on the Vandalblast slot. While Vandalblast is a strong card, this deck is artifact-light and rarely needs artifact removal as a maindeck piece. That slot can absorb a stronger generic effect.

Easy Doom Prevails Upgrades

Here are the most effective easy swaps to push the Doom Prevails decklist past stock precon power level. These suggestions are sourced from Card Game Base's June 10 upgrade analysis combined with widely-accepted Grixis Commander staples.

Magic: The Gathering card Crucible of Worlds, artifact with glowing planets in space and text about playing land cards from graveyard.

Crucible of Worlds. I understand the precon not wanting to go to hard, but this to me is an instant add. Doom wants you to discard land to do damage. Crucible of worlds still makes those lands usable by letting you play them from your graveyard. Easy add here.

Magic card art of Green Goblin, Nemesis, a grinning green villain flying on a glider; card text says Legendary Creature—Goblin Human Villain.

Green Goblin, Nemesis (Marvel's Spider-Man). A villain that rewards you for discarding cards by generating Treasure tokens. This card synergizes perfectly with Doctor Doom because you are already planning to discard lands. Available now on the secondary market and reasonably priced for a new staple.

Norman Osborn / Green Goblin (transforming MDFC). Both faces work in the deck. The front side is a connive target, and the back lets you rebuy discarded cards at a discount. A flexible inclusion at every stage of the game and stays within the Marvel theme.

Doctor Octopus, Master Planner trading card showing a floating villain in green with metal tentacles; sci-fi lab background and rules text.

Doctor Octopus, Master Planner. Another Villain that pumps your army while keeping your hand full. A little expensive, but his multi-faceted ability makes it worth the late game play.

Magic card Cool but Rude shows a green turtle hero leaping in neon city art, with level-up rules and pizza-splattered foes.

Cool but Rude. A non-Marvel enchantment from a different Universes Beyond set with three highly relevant levels. Level one acts as a soft connive engine, level two replicates Doctor Doom's life loss on any discarded card, and level three adds Gamble as a tutor. The card is currently around five dollars on the secondary market.

Magic: The Gathering card Bolas's Citadel, showing a dark stone citadel under a purple sky, with rules text below.

Bolas's Citadel. A widely-used Grixis Commander staple that fits the deck's late-game schemer plan. Lets you play cards from the top of your library by paying life.

Magic: The Gathering Reanimate card shows a chained undead figure with outstretched arms and sorcery text on a dark background.

Reanimate and Animate Dead. Black reanimation is the best way to recover Villains discarded for Doctor Doom triggers. Both are widely considered must-includes for any black-based deck running discard or self-mill effects.

Magic: The Gathering card Cyclonic Rift shows a red storm vortex over a city, with lightning and the word Instant.

Cyclonic Rift. The single most universally-included blue card in Commander. The overload mode wins games against go-wide boards that Grixis decks struggle to keep up with.

Magic: The Gathering card Demonic Tutor shows a pirate in a boat before a towering demon in mist, with sorcery text below.

Demonic Tutor. Everyone loves a tutor, especially this one. Doom Prevails benefits significantly from any tutor since the deck has multiple unique payoff cards.

A good rule of thumb for upgrading this precon: every swap should either enable connive (cards that benefit from discard or trigger on draw), enable Doctor Doom (cards that discard lands or grow on counters), or finish faster (efficient removal, tutors, late-game payoffs). Stay in those three buckets and the deck moves quickly from beginner power level to mid-tier Commander.
